Dana Miletich, Carlton County Board candidate

I was born and raised in Duluth, MN to Carol and Eli Miletich. I have an older sister who lives in Carlton County and a younger brother who is serving our country in the United States Navy. I attended Piedmont Elementary , Lincoln and Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Denfeld High school in 1987. In 1992 I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies.
A few months after graduating from college I accepted a position in the motion picture industry. After enjoying a couple of years working in the transportation departments of Disney and Paramount Studios on location film productions I was offered and accepted a position with Western Great Lakes Pilots Association in Superior, WI where I was a member of the International Longshoreman Association. In 2000 I decided to jump back on my original career path and completed the necessary coursework from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College to be licensed as a police officer. Since 2001 I have been employed by the State of Minnesota as State Patrol Trooper. During my career with the State Patrol I have performed additional duties as a Drill instructor at the State Patrol Academy, Background investigation, Field Training for new recruits, and performed as a First Aid Instructor. Since 1994 I have also owned and managed several rental properties and real estate investments. In 2008 I took on a new challenge and was elected to the Barnum School board, recently serving as the board’s Vice Chairman since this past January.
My wife Joie and I have lived in Carlton County since 2000, currently living in Barnum township for the past 5 years where our four beautiful daughters Sage-14, Emily-10, Kendal-8, and Reese-6 all attend Barnum schools. I also coach youth softball for our community youth.
